Loughborough University has a strong tradition of teacher education and a history of successfully producing teachers who are in great demand by schools and colleges in the UK and overseas. We are renowned for the high quality courses we offer in Design and Technology, Physical Education, Science and Physics with Maths. These courses have been highly rated in Ofsted inspections and Loughborough is a category 'A' provider which represents 'outstanding' provision.
Loughborough was placed in the top ten (4th) out of 75 higher education institutions in the 'Good Teacher Training Guide 2011'. The ratings were based on three factors: entry qualifications, Ofsted inspection outcomes and employment statistics.
The Loughborough Post-Graduate Certificate in Education course contributes towards half of a masters degree. Individuals wanting to complete the masters degree can do so on a part-time basis during their early teaching career.
