Background
Di came to Loughborough University in 1979 as a mature student after a career in personnel management. She graduated in 1982 with a degree in PE, Sports Science and Recreation Management. then worked part-time as a demonstrator in the department teaching on the undergraduate course. In 1993 she started a part-time MPhil investigating swimming in primary schools and completed this in 1996. Di is now employed full-time as a University Teacher in the PE section at Loughborough and is also assistant coach to the university swimming team. In 2008 she was awarded a PhD for her thesis entitled "The coach-parent-athlete triangle: an investigation in age-group swimming. "
