Background

Chris gained a BA (Hons) in Sport and Recreation Studies from North Staffordshire Polytechnic and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Loughborough University before embarking on a career as a teacher of physical education. In 1997, he completed a PhD at the University of Exeter specialising in psychology of physical education. Chris joined Loughborough in 1999 and is currently Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology. He is also a British Psychological Society Chartered Psychologist.

Research Interests

Chris’ research interests focus on developmental aspects of young people’s motivation and self-perceptions in school- and leisure-time physical activity.
