Profile
The Systems and Control Group has activities and expertise in a range of subjects relating to control system engineering. There is a strongly practical focus to the work, and many of the projects involve close collaboration with industrial organisations.

The group maintains close links with the Dynamics and Control group in the Aeronautical and Automotive Department, sharing experitise, equipment and pursuing joint projects.
Industrial collaboration involves a number of Companies including BAE Systems, Rail Safety and Standards Board, and SMAC UK Ltd. An important feature is the group's involvement in Rail Research UK, a multi-university EPSRC-funded research centre.
Overall the group provides a centre of excellence aimed towards both the theoretical and more practical aspects of control and systems engineering. We focus upon the application requirements and choose from a range of established theoretical techniques to provide solutions involving both simulation and technology demonstration.
