Gianfranco Claudio is a Lecturer in Photovoltaics in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. His research focus on silicon solar cells by screen printing or Laser Grooved Buried Contact (LGBC).
Topics of research: antireflecting coating by thin film dielectrics, solar cells optimisation, ultra thin crystalline wafers, laser firing and doping low and high concentrator silicon solar cells.
First Class Degree in Physics he has worked in the largest academical Centre for Photovoltaics ENEA in Napoli (Italy) where he worked on Heterojunction (HJT) solar cells thin films deposition by PECVD on silicon substrates. He has been awarded of two Fellowships by Istituto Italiano di Fisica della Materia (INFM). In March 2004 he was awarded of a PhD in Electronic Engineering from University of Surrey Guildford UK.

Gianfranco Claudio is a Lecturer in Photovoltaics at CREST within the Dept. of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. His area of research is in silicon solar cells.
Topics currently studied included process optimisation for screen printed and LGBC solar cells, hot wire deposition, sputtering of thin film dielectrics, electro optical characterisation of semiconductors and process optimisation of high efficient silicon solar cells.
Dr. Claudio was a researcher in thin film silicon solar cells in ENEA Portici (Italy) before taking his PhD at University of Surrey, Guildford, UK.
He has worked for over three years at Loughborough University as a Research Associate to establish the largest PV laboratory in UK under the SUPERGEN program.
He is responsible for the Solar I module within the REST MSc program in Renewable Energy at Loughborough University for in Campus and DL students.
