We are especially proud of being an integral part of two of the University’s record-breaking six awards of the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education:

For its partnerships with the aerospace industry (1994) and in recognition of the Optical Engineering Group’s pioneering role in developing applications of modern optics and laser technologies (2001).


Of particular note was the contribution made by the late Professor Peter Smith for his inspired application of photonics to biomedical engineering.
