Extended VCO team
There are a number of other areas that form part of the Extended Vice-Chancellor's office team.
These areas are led by the Director of Change Projects, Director of Facilities Management and the Director of Planning.
Change Projects
Dr Anne Mumford is the Director of Change Projects. She leads major strategic institutional projects which cut across the University ensuring partnership working across academic departments and support services.
Anne works with the Chief Operating Officer in ensuring a collaborative approach is taken to operational activities through the Services Working Together group.
The major projects which Anne is involved in comprise:
Environmental Sustainability where Anne is working with many colleagues on campus to make a step change in our approach and to ensure the University works strategically across research, enterprise, the curriculum and operations.
Emergency planning and business continuity management to ensure that the University is well placed to deal with major incidents and their aftermath.
Central timetabling – the University is to introduce central timetabling and Anne’s involvement indicates the recognition that this is not simply about introducing an information system but is about changed ways of working to improve timetables for both students and staff as well as making better use of our teaching space.
Teaching space – Anne is working with colleagues in Facilities Management, the Teaching Centre and with academic departments to develop a strategic approach to the development of teaching space and to ensure we learn from best practice elsewhere.
Planning Team
The Planning Team, led by the Director of Planning, Fidelma Hannah provides support to the University's planning processes.
It undertakes a wide variety of work linked to the development and implementation of the University Strategy - Towards 2016.
The Planning Team collaborates closely with colleagues from Finance, Facilities Management, the Research Office, Human Resources and the Academic Registry on a range of planning issues including resource allocation, statutory returns and management information.

Facilities Management and imago Services
The Director of Facilities Management & imago Services is Andrew Burgess. Andrew has overall responsibility for the University estate, including the University hospitality services, which are currently named imago Services.
Facilities Management is responsible for the effective and sustainable management of the University’s land and buildings, delivering many services.
This includes management of the University’s capital building and refurbishment programme, planned major maintenance items, responsive maintenance, minor improvement projects, cleaning services, caretaking, security, post, audio and visual, furniture and maintenance of grounds and gardens.
As part of the University’s strategy to achieve more value for money, imago Services has recently merged with Facilities Management.
Andrew and his team are now undergoing a major change programme to merge both departments successfully. The merge will enable both departments to combine their strengths and work together more effectively, achieve more efficiencies and focus on meeting their customers’ requirements both internally and externally.
